  • Las Vegas, NV: Today, Nevada Republican Party Chairman Paul Adams issued the following statements in response to Senator Harry Reid’s press conference concerning Homeland Security funding, and his floor statements on ethics reform:

Chairman Adams on Reid’s Homeland Security Press Conference:

“Harry Reid obstructed the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and lacks any credibility on this issue.  It’s classic Reid, he’s in front of a camera complaining that there’s not enough funding, despite the fact that he has stood in the way of funding this department in the past.

“Reid is a fundamental obstructionist to Republican initiatives, and in this case he apparently has no regard for how effective this department has been in keeping us safe.  The Department of Homeland Security has been a success for President Bush, and while there are always challenges, it has effectively thwarted terrorist threats and guarded our communities from disastrous attacks.”

Chairman Adams on Reid’s Senate Floor Statements on ethics:

“Harry suffered a relapse in his ethical amnesia when he again hypocritically ignored his concrete ties to corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff when discussing lobby reform.  Reid needs to quite playing politics and concede that this issue is not a partisan problem, but an institutional problem that has everything to with his own record of impropriety.”
