  • Las Vegas, NV:  Today, Nevada Republican Party Chairman Paul Adams issued the following statement in response to Senate’s reauthorization of the Patriot Act and Senator Harry Reid’s late support:

“Today, our embarrassing senior Senator Harry Reid voted to extend that Patriot Act, bringing full circle his political hypocrisy on national security.  Originally, Reid voted for the Patriot Act.  Last December, he proudly proclaimed that he had ‘killed’ the Patriot Act.  And now today, Reid flip-flopped yet again and voted to extend the Patriot Act; clearly, the democrats are more concerned with partisan politics than protecting our national security.  How much of the government’s business went unattended to—not to mention how much of the taxpayer’s dollars were wasted—as a result of the partisan games Reid played with national security? Nevadans understand the threat of terrorism and acknowledge the need to strengthen law enforcement’s ability to fight that threat; it is no wonder, then, that the voters of Nevada resent our embarrassing senior Senator’s treatment of national security as just another partisan political tool.”
