MADISON – The declaration by the Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that the war in Iraq is “lost” demonstrates the Democrats are so busy catering to the far left they have turned their backs on the brave men and women serving our country overseas, according to Mark Jefferson, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
Reid asserted “this war is lost,” essentially conceding defeat to Al-Qaeda without facts from the military to back it up.
“Imagine how the soldiers will feel when they learn the majority leader of the United States Senate told the world they are there for nothing. The troops know what they are fighting for and they deserve support from everyone at home,” Jefferson said.
Democrats like Russ Feingold have said, “Congress has a responsibility to end a war that is opposed by the American people and is undermining our national security…our bill requires the President to safely redeploy our troops from Iraq.”
Jefferson said its time for the entire Wisconsin delegation to get behind the troops.
“Supporting the troops is not Democrat or Republican. Instead of cutting their legs out from underneath them like Harry Reid wants to, the entire Wisconsin delegation should stand up to Reid and get behind our troops,” Jefferson said.
